Love the Simple Things

Tuesday 10

1. My head is so heavy with congestion, I keep putting it back onto the couch as I type this.  Not sure I will make it to 10, but I will try.

2. My hubby made the most incredible salmon tonight.  We're talking 5 star resturant quality.  Serious flavor.  Maya ate it.  Now that's HUGE.

3. I am in LOVE with this paper!

4. I love finding evidence of Laney Kate all over the house.  I do, and I know that someday it'll be shoes, and ipods and backpacks.  But now it's just fishies on the windowsill.

5. Last week Art Friday - (someone help me, I forget the name), but these little beads you put on pegs and make shapes, then you iron them and they all stick together!  Finished product image coming at a later date.

6. I visited my old college stompin grounds this past weekend.  We took our Hip Hop girls to dance halftime at the men's basketball game.   

7.  I want to make this.

8. We finally went to the library today after being away too long....maya got 4 I can read books and Laney picked out Elmo videos(big surprise there).  I picked out 8 story books.  We did puzzles and built blocks and mama chased Laney all.over.the.library.  The end.

9. Did you watch the Grammy's?  It's not what it used to be isn't it.  I was very touched by the MJ tribute.  Wish I had 3d glasses.  Usher is freakin awesome and wow does Carrie Underwood have a set of pipes!  Lady Gaga- um not sure what to think.  Dave Matthews was unbelieveably entertaining and so was that country group with fabulous harmonies...

10. This is it, I made it to the end. Now, I must lay my head down on my pillow.

 
 
 

5 on Thursday

1. It really doesn't matter what day you do the Tuesday 10, or for that matter what you call it and how many you do.  Just pick a number and a day.   

2. Did anyone stop by Donna Downey's blog and LOL at the video when she said,  Where's Tango?  Oh there he is right behind me.  I did!!

3. I am getting really good at uncorking wine bottles.  Hee hee...Thursday night is wine night.

4. Keeping track of Maya's social calendar is becoming quite involved.  Is this what Kindergarten does to a girl?

5. Glee is so good.  The hour goes by so fast.  It.is.so.good.

And since a post without a picture is boring...Here's a blurry one I caught of Ben and Laney, but it doesn't matter that it's blurry....

 

Sometimes you just need to breathe them in.  

10 on Tuesday

1. Standing in the rain this morning at the bus stop, holding an umbrella and the one year old....fun times. 

2. On the counter right now is half of a banana, a binky, a carafe of hazlenut coffee and 8 tiny animal figurines.  Just in case you wanted to know...

3. Laney DOESN'T STOP...she keeps going and going and going....

4. I love going out to lunch.  For two years, Maya went to preschool about 20 minutes from our house so when I'd pick her up, it was around lunch time and often we'd meet a friend for lunch....Wednesdays we'd meet my SIL.  So maybe twice a week - out to lunch.  This year, Maya gets off the bus at the end of our street.  It's the third week of school and I am happy to say - no out to lunches!  I miss Brueggers with Rach, boy do I miss those{hugs to you R}, but I am pleased with the $$savings and eating sandwiches at home. 

5. Along the lines of #4, making my own coffee in the mornings for my Starbucks to-go cup.  Yay- cutting back on the coffee shop runs as well.  Ok- Sunday I did run out of creamer and I like coffee with my creamer so yes, 1 Starbucks run on Sunday.  Ok well, 1 on Monday too, but it was my sister's fault.  She called me to meet her for coffee.  But- I hadn't been to the store yet and there was still no creamer.  Today - I am back on track, whew!

6. Made it through the first day back to dance class.  Wish you were here to join us for ballet lessons my cyber mama friends!

7. I think I am losing brain cells.  I got an email tonight saying I won 2nd place in a photo contest I don't remember entering...But I did register with the photo site(I looked it up in my email inbox from July).  I just don't remember entering...what picture?  What for?  How did I hear about it?  You know how you're eerie about opening an email that has attachments of anything if you don't recognize the address.....Yah- that's me tonight just rackin my crazy brain trying to figure out if I did enter this summer contest....no saved photo on the photo site either.  I will call the company tomorrow...Is that even safe?  Arrrgh!

8. Today I taught my college roommate's little 4 year old in dance class.  A bit bittersweet.  This little girl's mama was a very important cheerleader of mine when I was struggling in the college dance program.  I remember seeing a homemade poster on the door of my dorm room when I got back from class one day.  After a junior told me in tap class that I'd "better stand in the back Freshmen" the day before.  The poster had a Lion King design to it(another college story for another day:).  Anyway....catching up with old friends that once were like a sister to you is pretty amazing!

9. I needed something sweet tonight for a snack after dance and Ben said, "I brought up the Lucky Charms."  Hee hee- he read my mind.  I love sneaking up the snack cereal from hiding for a grown up treat.  And I love that he did it first.

10. Ben has a show.  That means it's ok now that I have 4 shows.  Glee, So you think you can dance, Project Runway and Dancing with the Stars....oh and Oprah....and maybe Extreme Makeover Home Edition...ok, 5 shows....but Ben has a show now!

10 on Tuesday

1. Maya asked if when she couldn't sleep, is it ok if she slept on the couch?  I asked why and she said cuz my baby dolls keep talking to me in the middle of the night and I can't sleep!

2. Ben serenaded us this morning at the breakfast table.  It was really loud.  Anyone else not a morning person?

3. I can't tell you how many times I have put back together the tupperware cabinet.  I mean, what do you do?  It's a pain in the rear to clean up but that 10 minutes of peace while you're cookin dinner...is it worth it?

4. I'd like to make a duvet cover for our bed...first I need a duvet, but I think it'd be so much easier to find fabric rather than a bedding set...then paint, then curtains.....

5. I really could use some girlfriend time...the running to staples to drop off things to copy and the drive-thru starbucks just doesn't cut it.

6. What does one bring to wear in NYC?!!

7. We had our first family bikeride last night!  We put the girls in the bike trailer and enjoyed the beautiful evening weather.

8. We also had our first campfire of the summer complete with smores!  Maya was on top of the world...although she didn't care much for smores...just marshmallows, and the chocolate...each by themselves.

9.Thinkin we may need to head south soon for a little vaca...shake up the summer a bit.

10. The last three times on our visits to the library they didn't have the books I wanted.  Anyone have some good authors to check out similar to Sophie Kinsella and/or Emily Giffin?

10 on Tues...er Wednesday

1. When we walk into Target, Laney goes Ball! Ball!  You know those huge obnoxious red balls in front?  Yah, those.

2. I tried Starbuck's new strawberry banana smoothie...yum!

3. Did you know Princess Belle lives at our house?!

4. Tonight is scrap night with the girls and I am oh so excited.  I have a little project for a special family I will be working on!

5. And the dessert...Oh the dessert.  Let's just say it involves cookie dough, a skillet and some vanilla ice cream.

6. Really need to get going on Laney's 1st birthday Thank you notes.  I'm thinking about them, really I am.

7. Daddy took the big sister out today to see the movie UP! She was beside herself with excitement. 

8. I don't have any kind of festive shirt for the 4th of July to wear.  I wonder if Old Navy still has some $5 t's left...We always go to a day long party complete with homemade cinnamon rolls in the morning, a walk to the town parade and an afternoon of swimming, volleyball and cook out!  Maya and I are going to make Blueberries and creme for the morning and a Jello cake for the afternoon. 

9. I've been trying to keep up with the housecleaning lately by doing at least one thing a day.  That way, it looks kept up and I don't have to do it all in one day.  I get lazy and distracted and to tell you the truth, cleaning is just not a top priority on my list.  So, yesterday I changed sheets and mopped the kitchen.  Today was cleaned bathrooms and vacuumed and dusted the basement.  Tomorrow- maybe start laundry...

10. I have a couple of crafty projects I need to get going on and plan a little vaca for the fam.  Summer is just flying by.  Can't believe studio stuff has begun for fall.  I almost have all the pre-registered kids into classes...Yay! 

10 on Tuesday

1. Sunday through today has already felt like a full week. 

2. Maya is getting over the stomach flu(see number 1).

3. Got some scrap happy news today!

4. Laney is rockin on all threes:)  Her one leg keeps getting stuck underneath her.  It won't be long though until she is crawling.

5. Spent the weekend hanging out with my parents.  It's so fun to see them with the girlies.  My dad just kept making Laney clap her hands over and over again.  He loved it.  My mom has this game where you puch holes in paper with a hole puncher and them throw them all over.  Mmhhmmm lets just say that's strictly a game for Nana's house ONLY.  Maya had tons of fun- laughing till she cried.  Especially when they threw handfulls on Pop-Pop.

6. American Idol holds some potentials this season! But Tatiana and the duo personality guy have to go. 

7. Cleaned almost the entire house since Monday.  All sheets are changed, bathrooms disinfected, carpet scrubbed, vacummed, dusted...(See number 2).

8. We get to watch some of our favorite (sisters, babysitters, friends) on Saturday dance in their college halftime show!  So excited for them!!  That's our Valentines Day plans, what's yours?

9. Took the girlies to Panera for lunch today.  Nothing like finding a gift card for some warm Panera soup.  That was our one outing with the on the mend Maya.

10 on Tuesday

1. I think this is my first 10 on Tuesday since forever ago. 

2. Today was a day that goes down in history.  Amazing!  Maya even caught the fever and told Daddy, "We got to eat lunch downstairs today with TV trays!!" Yup- Mommy had to watch our 44th president get sworn in.

3. How can two small girlies have soooooo much laundry.  I feel like I just did it and the baskets just got filled up again.

4. I have so much to get done this week and here I am blogging and watching the inaugural balls.  Nothing like procrastination..

5. Sweet mail day- my October Afternoon paper pack and stamps!  Maya's going to have some cutie Valentines to pass out.

6. Maya and I spent some quality baby naptime together cleaning the bathroom(hey-she wanted to help) and working on her "Lily" scrapbook. 

7. We enjoyed a four day weekend so much that when Ben turned on the lamp in the bedroom today at 6am to get dressed, I groggily sat up and said, what are you doing this early?  Hee hee- um it's Tuesday Mis, back to work.

8. Tonight I made my own Reese Cup sundae...It's ok cuz I went to the gym today;)

9. Today Laney was watching Maya jump, so she started bouncing in her exersaucer and then laughing hysterically. 

10. Well, here come Charlie and Diane with a little George on the side to sum up the day.  Off to procrastinate some more.  Yes we can!

10 on Tuesday

1. It's officially Thanksgiving Break.  I love that our family is on a school schedule!

2. Cocoa Puffs and Egg Nog- such a healthy nightime snack, don't ya think?

3. Who is good at photo merging?  I have spent the last two hours working on this picture and I just can't get it right.UGH!

4. The kitchen is completely un-wallpapered and ready for red!

5. Maya and I picked out fun Target floor carpets.  One for right inside our back door and one for our boots in the kitchen.

6. Laney likes to get up at 4AM and grin. at us. like she's won some sort of prize. I thought a week of sleeping all night was the end of 4AM visits...I was sadly mistaken.

7. We attempted Turkey sugar cookie cut outs today.  An ice cream cone, square, circle, flower and gingerbread made their way in too.  It was a fun surprise for Daddy when he got home from a long day of conferences.  Of course his favorite- no icing.  And over the years- no icing has won my heart as well.  (really they are like soft vanilla cake cookies:)

8. I really wasn't all that attached to Dancing with the Stars this season..And they were saying the most competitive season ever...

9. Sunday night, I experienced the fastest coming on of a cold EVER!  Still trying to get over that sick hump.   Try talking over a tap class of 10- 8 year olds with no voice. 

10. Is your Christmas shopping done?  Mine is almost complete.  Then it's project making time.  So excited about getting the shopping done early for more time just to relax and celebrate the season.

10 on Tuesday

1. Sleep- what is it? I've heard that it is invigorating, refreshing, renewing...I so wish I could try it sometime.

2. Coffee is my new best friend.

3. Christmas is comin. Maya is really into the Berenstain Bears and I am so excited about some cool amazon finds tonight.

4. Speaking of Maya-today I looked at her in her hoodie, leggings and Uggs(fake ones found here) and had a glipse of this very big girl with thoughts and opinions and a style all her own.

5. Today I was in the mood to scrap!!! Yay the mojo is returning.  Got some way cute Making Memories for Laney's album to start with(I said the mojo is returning-better late than never).

6. I washed the 6-12 months clothes today. {sigh}

7. Have this great idea for Advent to do with Maya.  I found this adorable calendar box today(that I didn't buy yet because I had so much other scrap stuff that something had to wait) that I want to cover with pretty Christmas paper and put little things in each drawer(date) for Maya to pick out and we can talk about Christmas and its true meaning.....

8. I'm excited about some new friendships that are forming.  It's so important for Christian, Mommy, Scrapbookers to find each other....

9. I was working on our calendar today and realized things are filling up fast, I even double booked myself with a doctor's appt and a hair cut- I'm picking the hair cut- need some pampering these days.

10. Got a date with the hubby this weekend...seeing a good concert with lots of church friends and having dessert after at our house.  I'm making something apple-y and something pumpkin-y. So thankful and blessed to have such wonderful church friends in our life.  Almost as close as family.

1. Why is it that I can only take a shower when both kiddos are in bed sleeping(at the same time)?

2. When will my hair stop falling out?  We're talkin handfulls of hormonal post baby locks...

3. Why do I feel so close to this presidential election?  It's eeery...

4. How come, after spending all day making the sound mamamamamama to Laney, she looks at me during her bath and says dadadadadadadada?

5. By the way- when dear sweet Laney Kate will you sleep through the night and not wake up 3 times a night?

6.  What color rolling chair should I get for my craft room?

7. Can you believe we are in November and Thanksgiving is just a few short weeks away?

8. How late will I stay up tonight watching this enthralling post election?

9. Why did I just freak out about a computer bug and now have to wait for my pictures to all back up?  Oh well- backing up is good...

10. Should I make oatmeal or peanut butter cookies tomorrow?
